Kambo Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What is Kambo?

Kambo is the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog, used traditionally by Indigenous tribes of the Amazon for cleansing, strengthening, and clearing stagnant or heavy energy (called panema). It is not psychoactive but works deeply on the body, mind, and spirit.

Is Kambo safe?

When served responsibly by a trained practitioner, yes. Safety is my top priority. That said, Kambo is not for everyone—there are clear contraindications such as heart disease, pregnancy, recent major surgery, and others. I will always review your health history before serving.

What does a Kambo session feel like?

Most people feel an intense, physical process that lasts about 15–40 minutes. This often includes a rise in heat or heart rate, nausea, purging (vomiting, bowel movement, sweating, crying, or shaking), followed by a deep sense of release, clarity, and renewal.

Will I vomit?

Purging is a central part of Kambo, but it isn’t only about vomiting. Your body may release through tears, sweat, mucus, or bowel movement. Each purge is sacred—it is your body clearing what it no longer needs.

Does Kambo leave scars?

Yes, small scars are possible where the medicine is applied. I use Dragon’s Blood (a natural tree sap) to aid healing and minimize scarring. Many people choose to view their marks as sacred reminders of their healing journey.

How long does a session take?

From arrival to recovery, about 2–2.5 hours. The active medicine portion is shorter, but we take time for grounding, intention-setting, and full recovery before you leave.

How should I prepare?

• Fast 8–12 hours before (no food, only sips of water). • Avoid caffeine and medications the day of, unless otherwise discussed. • Bring a 1-liter plastic water bottle, comfortable clothing, and a spare change of clothes. • Let me know of any health concerns in advance.

What should I do after my session?

Drink plenty of water, eat light, nourishing foods, and rest. Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, and heavy or spicy foods for 24 hours. It’s normal to feel tired or even headachy as your body continues to cleanse—hydration is key.

How many sessions should I do?

This depends on your intentions. Some people come for one deep reset. Others benefit from a series (often multiple sessions a few weeks apart) to build momentum. We’ll talk about what’s right for you.

Can I do Kambo if I’m breastfeeding?

Yes, but the safe answer is to recommend pre-pumping milk and waiting at least 24 hours post-session before feeding again. This gives your body time to fully clear.

What are the risks?

While rare, risks can include fainting, prolonged nausea, or allergic reaction. I am trained to monitor and respond to emergencies. Kambo is never applied to someone with contraindications, and I always hold safety protocols first.

Is Kambo legal?

Yes. Kambo is legal in the United States and many other countries.

Do you offer group sessions or private only?

Both. Some people feel called to sit privately for more personal attention, while others find group energy supportive. Reach out and we can explore what fits best.

How much does it cost?

• $275 – Initial session (includes extended intake + guidance) • $200 – Follow-up sessions • $80 – Microdosing session (Deposit required to book)
